Meet The Team

Founder
Lyan Alshaikhsalama
My name is Lyan Alshaikhsalama, and I am a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas, where I’m majoring in Child Development. I’m passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children, especially those with unique needs. As the founder of Atypical Minds, an organization dedicated to connecting volunteers with a local school for children with "atypical minds" , I aim to foster a nurturing environment where every child can grow, learn, and thrive through consistent support and encouragement. Outside of my work and studies, I enjoy hitting the gym, reading, cooking, teaching, and spending quality time with friends.

Vice President
Yousef Alshaikhsalama
I'm Yousef Alshaikhsalama, the Vice President of Atypical Minds, an organization I’m proud to help lead as we connect volunteers with a school for children with neurodivergence. I’m passionate about creating a positive impact in these children’s lives, supporting their growth through our team’s dedication and care. Outside of my role with Atypical Minds, I love working out, cooking, and reading, as they keep me grounded and continually inspired. Being part of this organization means a lot to me, and I’m excited about the difference we can make together.

Treasurer
Sreya Kodela
Hello, my name is Sreya, and I am a sophomore Neuroscience major on the pre-med track. I joined Atypical Minds because it provides an incredible opportunity to give back to those less fortunate and gain valuable insight into life on the autism spectrum by interacting one-on-one with children at Waterfall Academy. A fun fact about me is that I began vocal training at the age of 5, and singing has been a significant part of my life ever since!

I joined Atypical Minds because I am passionate about supporting and helping those with exceptionalities. I wanted to be part of a community that values inclusion and empathy, and Atypical Minds embodies those principles. Everyone deserves to feel understood and included, and I look forward to learning more about caring for exceptional children while contributing to this amazing community! fun fact about me is I used to show standard poodles in the American Kennel Club, and I have a dachshund named Charlie!
